On Ulcerate's fifth full-length album, Shrines of Paralysis, they continue to dominate the technical death metal sub-genre with their discordant riff's, blast beats and black metal undertones. Although Ulcerate remains extremely consistent musically, it's the production that makes this album hard to listen to at times (remember the Kelly Gray produced Nevermore album, Enemies of Reality). Fortunately, if you can stomach the muddy production you're in for a treat because Shrines of Paralysis is some of the best death metal released this year. I would love to hear this album with the same production effort that was on The Destroyers of All. All that being said, don't pass up this death metal masterpiece.
