I first heard of Nashville Pussy from the other artist at the shop I work at, and was hesitant to pick up the album. Just by the name itself, it wasn’t normal, and at the time I was into very typical bands of the day, thank goodness that changed.
Looking at the cover of Nashville Pussy you would think it’s a hardcore metal band, but they arent, they sing about life that no one else will sing about. The feelings in this cd are real and genuine, and truly heartfelt. One song that gets that flowing is track #3--"Gonna Hitchhike down to Cincinnati and kick the shit out of your drunk daddy". Its got a catchy guitar and drum work, and the lyrics are so damn good that you can't help but sing along. The song does have a lot of truth in it, how many times have you dated a chick who’s dad was a drunk, you want to kill them, and this song just speaks that. Now how many bands do you know that will do that?
They do a amazing cover of "Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo" with the flair and personality that was missing from the original version. I'm not saying that the original version is bad by any means, but I love their version of it so much more.
The album is filled with rock and roll that has long past been gone-heavy guitar, loud drums and screaming lyrics that make you want to get up and party all night with friends. You won't find this type of music very often anymore and you wont find these lyrics anywhere either. This is a band that isn’t afraid of getting their thoughts heard. They arent afraid of what the media thinks, they want to rock and roll and party. Hell yeah, Nashville Pussy is a great band, and this is one of there greatest albums.
