Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

It will grab you by your crotch and shake you around
Wow! Lead singer "Liv" is an animal locked in a cage. If she's let out, somebody is in for a bloody clawing.

Sweden is an accepted home of death metal and black metal and along with those extreme offences there's a whole pack of talented hard rockers like Star Rats, Hardcore Superstar, Nasty Idols, Loud 'N Nasty and more. I would add Sister Sin to the list of those embracing the late 80s sound.

You really don't need deep thoughts for this CD; it's not cerebral, but it will grab you by your crotch and shake you around with hot guitars and rebellious backing vocals like "Screw...you, Fuck...you!" There's more aggressive release here than party. Sister Sin's propulsive songs on Switchblade Serenades could be described as a dozen versions of Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" covered by In This Moment with Doro gang chants. Liv pulls the standard riffs and admittedly juvenile-leaning lyrics (an exception being the title track which could indicate their future direction) up with her blistering, high energy performance.

Sister Sin is currently supporting a tour with Bang Tango, Bullet Boys and Faster Pussycat. I'd say they fit really well.
