Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

Wild Side are a Norwegian act with their sophomore effort "Speed Devil". The band are a good mix of rowdy Motley Crue attitude and the precise chops of an Accept or Victory. The riffs are somewhat generic but still entertaining, while the vocalist is a bit off in spots. I really like the solid "backbone" of the band and its catchy hooks but at the end of the day how many of these records do we need? The group mixed the album with King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRoque so the production is as tight as a jackass in an ice cream parlor. Worth a listen.

Take Motley's "Shout At The Devil" but throw in a more well rounded version of Vince Neil that's WILD SIDE and their album "Speed Devil". Shaking with dirty licks, pounding drums that are underscored by a swaying bass line. Taught with sleaze soaked lyrics that it puts the guys in the Crue to shame! Take 'Mine Tonight' about a temptress who leaves men hungry for animalistic sex. I could do without 'Love For You'. But find an album in this genre that doesn't have at least one tear jerker ballad.
