Their rawest, most aggressive album since 2002's Nothing!
Meshuggah are back with their rawest, most aggressive album since 2002's Nothing. Although Obzen and Koloss were excellent albums, I feel they were a little too experimental at times and a tinge over produced, although not necessarily a bad thing. However, A Violent Sleep of Reason was recorded live in the studio and the sheer brutality of the recording is very impressive. Songs such as Born In Dissonance, Monstrocity, By the Ton, Nostrum, and Our Rage Won't Die prove that Meshuggah are still at the top of their game! Definite metal album-of-the-year contender for me.
