A unique experience

A serious unknown here, Green Death delivers an incredibly diverse metal palate with "Manufacturing Evil", the band's second full-length album. Boasting a firm base in thrash, Green Death also delves into the power metal and death metal genres, amongst others, with seamless transitions between all three mentioned genres throughout the album as well as sometimes in the same track. The ability for bands to pull off a sound that combines different elements is not an easy task. Most bands tend to focus on just one genre and then incorporate other small nods to the other genres that they say define their sound. With Green Death, there's no one genre that you could say clearly defines them. They have songs with thrash bases that have soaring vocals and bombastic drumming, they have others that are rooted in death metal but have a traditional musical sound to them and then they have doomy power metal as well. The combinations are endless and what is equally as impressive is the quality of the songwriting and the songs themselves. Rather than let too much be combined for a chaotic sounding track, Green Death pull the parts together in a seamless stew that tastes damn good going down. The lyrical content ranges from opening the gates of Hell, demonic overlords, blasphemy and many other subjects. The lyrics combined with the range of sounds encompassed by the band just give you a unique experience listening to "Manufacturing Evil". Every time I listen to it, I hear or pick up on something I didn't catch on the previous listen. Everyone says the only good thing to come out of Des Moines, Iowa is Slipknot. Well people, get ready to add Green Death to that list. I am eagerly looking forward to what this band has on the horizon and in the meantime, will continue to do my part in "Manufacturing Evil" by playing this album 'till my speakers melt. Favorite tracks from this one are "Gates of Hell", "Through the Eye", "Devil's Night" and "One With The Flame".
