The hardcore is here baby!
Grab your bullhorn and pull up a mosh pit, the hardcore is here baby! Barcode lay down some thunderous rumblings with their fourth album to date, a blistering assault on all fronts. Now geared up with Nuclear Blast, Barcode have the audience that they need, with "Showdown" probably some of the best hardcore I've heard all year. Now is the time for metalcore and all of the mallrats to come out of the woodwork and, thankfully, Barcode isn't one of those bands. Their sound is sincere and old school, two qualities that seem to be missing in most of today's "bands of the month". While they keep up fast paced, quick riffs and punchlines, the band still manage to deliver rock bottom groove slabs within their material, something that I wish more 'core bands would keep in mind. With sixteen massive cuts here, fans of Marauder, Madball, and even D.R.I should find plenty to like here. The band are obviously well "in tune" with their roots, keeping everything here under three minutes, creating furious, rapid spills that beam with energy, enthusiasm, and angst. With excellent production from Tue Madsen (Mnemic, The Haunted, Disbelief) at Jailhouse Studios (Volbeat, Hatesphere), Barcode are given plenty of ammo for the fight.
"Showdown" is a mighty metal assault!
