Black metal with a little touch of folk that is beset with production issues
Litourgiya is an album that has lots of promise within but the issues on the album really detract from the bright moments. The folk elements the band utilize add a nice touch of pomp and flare to the black metal that is fairly uninspired. The vocals are a bright spot as they are quite good and the male and female cleans work well together. The production is not the greatest as the music seems to be much higher in the mix than the vocals, causing you to strain to really be able to make out the words being sung. The talent and spirit are there in Batushka, just need a little clearer production and some time to get the formula right.
