Elysian Blaze emerge from the dark with more epic blackened doom
Six years after the release of the mega epic 'Blood Geometry', Elysian Blaze are back with a single track clocking in at almost 19 minutes long. 'The Virtue Of Suffering' starts with a slow fade in and builds up to an arena rock-like riff with the help of some wall-of-sound keyboards and pounding drums. Parts of the beginning of this track almost remind me of Viking-era Bathory. However, at around the six minute mark, things become more doom-laden as the pace slows. The keyboard parts provide a great melody to riffs and the occasional clean vocals keep the sound extremely interesting. If this song is a sign of things to come from Elysian Blaze, then my expectations remain high for another exceptional full-length album.
