Six albums in and this is the first time I've heard of Raven Throne. After listening to their latest opus though, I'll be going back to check out their back catalog for sure. With their newest offering, the band blisters through some seriously tight and nifty atmospheric black metal. Their playing is a formula that is tried and true to most black metallers but the mixture of guitar sound combined with the tremolo riffing is really well done. The thing that struck me about the album though came from part of a statement I read by the band. The band was inspired by poems from Belarus, their stomping grounds and utilized that as their lyrical base. Just a really cool touch.
