Lame. That's the nicest possible thing to say about this album.
Mortician's latest effort has nothing new to offer to anyone. Darkest Day of Horror features the typical Mortician sound, with no change whatsoever. The same repetitive drum beat from a drum machine, and the same riffs used album after album. Of course, there are some cool samples from classic horror flicks, but yet again, they use a sample from I Spit On Your Grave, which they use on every album. In other words, this album is the same old shit, straight down to the cheesy cover art.
If you've never heard Mortician, check out some of their previous albums like Chainsaw Dismemberment or Hacked Up for Barbecue. But if you can't find that, then just check out this one. It all sounds the same anyway. And if you have heard Mortician before, stay the hell away from this, because you've
heard it already on any of their other releases. The only redeeming quality of this CD is the photo in the booklet of guitarist Roger Beaujard trying to do his best bad-ass metal pose while sporting a Star Wars sweatshirt. That's some funny shit.
Rating: 2 out of 10 (they get two points for at least not selling out)
