Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

Bloodbath has had two releases--a 3 song EP titled Breeding Death, released in 2000 and a full length CD titled Resurrection Through Carnage, released in 2002.

Now, the EP shows remnants of older Morbid Angel as well as classic Opeth. So, needless to say, Breeding Death is a fantastic release. Great vocals with even better musicianship and speed. A modern death metal album mixed with the great ability of yesteryear.

If they could have kept this up, maybe they could have had something, but then they fucked it all up and released Resurrection Through Carnage. It's my inexpert opinion that this album is the worst piece of shit I have heard in a while. Imagine the shit Cannibal Corpse has put out as of late and well, even that may be better than this. I mean, the vocals of Mikael Åkerfeldt leave a lot to be desired. And would someone please tell me what happened to Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse?

The guitar/bass work and riffs of Breeding Death complimented each other so much and were amazing, then on Resurrection, well, it sounds like one big duel between them. What happened to the talent and good things I expected? Was it a fluke? Maybe they should re-release the album and title it “Resurrect our careers after this car wreck”. The best thing I can say about them after hearing the full length album is, that it's not to shabby on the artwork.

Just please, no more!
