Good ol' thrash

No Return are back after a 3 year wait with their latest album "Fearless Walk To Rise". One of the strange things about this band is that I imagine they are fairly unknown to myself and other metalheads, despite having put out 9 albums and having been in existence for 26 years. After listening to their latest offering, I'm hoping some of that will change. Not having heard what their older material is like, I can't really draw a comparison as to how the band has evolved since its creation. However, I can tell that they know what the sound of today's thrash bands sound like and have incorporated that into "Fearless Walk". With a sound that is equal parts Arch Enemy and Testament, No Return offer up thrash that is sure to appeal to fans of the aforementioned bands as well as fans of good ol' thrash in general. Tracks like "Submission Falls", "Bloodbath Legacy" and "Paint Your World" are great examples of the bands penchant for dual melodic guitar riffs and aggressively bombastic drumming. The vocals are a mix of death and the classic thrash staccato delivery melded together. The guitars and the double bass shine in the production mix and overall the album has a very clean sound to it. While the band has been around for a couple of decades, this is a great way to introduce themselves to a newer, younger fanbase as well as allow their older fans to reacquaint themselves with the band. A fun listen, an album you can bang your head and speed to and songs that feature many air guitar-worthy solos, what more can you ask for these days? Definitely check this one out, you'll be happy you did.
