Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

    • Mighty Music, a subsidiary of Target, continues to dive and delve for quality hard rock and heavy metal. After recent acquisitions of Mike Tramp, Sea and Saint Rebel, the label backs another stout effort from native Danish band Bullet Train Blast. This album follows the successful 'Nothing Remains' release, a record that saw the band reach prominence with a 13th place on the Danish charts. The group utilize two new members on this offering, Jakob Ellerup (bass) and Henrik Jacobsen (guitar), two placements that may have elevated the band's "groovy" presentation and Southern-fried flavor. Vocalist Martin Larsen still shows off his vocal tenacity, almost a dead ringer for Bang Tango's Joe Leste. With solid production from powerhouse producer Tue Madsen, 'Shake Rattle Racing' absolutely floors it to the finish with strong hooks and bluesy licks. Think Black Stone Cherry meets Van Halen...just like the sticker says.
