Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

Z02 is the brainchild of the Brothers Z, Paulie and David along with drummer Joey Cassata. The members of this group are not strangers to the performing world by a long shot. David is the touring bassist for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra while Paulie and Joe are members of the popular KISSNATION (a NYC Based KISS Tribute band). The CD “Tuesdays And Thursdays” is quite the tasty piece of Rock and Roll. It also sports an amazing production for a group of guys who are releasing this independently without major label backing. One does not always see the level of quality that they have made sure to place on this piece. It even sports a fully colored and lyric filled booklet that is covered with artwork. Really nice looking and well-thought out.

The CD is full of catchy riffs and some powerful vocals. Everyone sings and there are great harmonies through the whole piece. I am always a fan of this full sound and think these guys do it quite well. Highlights on the CD are most specially “Dirty Water”, “Taking Me Down”, Fly On Your Wings” and the funky “Radio”. Paulie’s voice cuts like a razor at times and is smooth on other occasions. Dave’s bass as solid as can be and Joey’s drums nice and clear on every track.

The group recently completed a successful supporting gig for KISS and Poison. Not bad for a start off. I advise fans of solid rock and roll music along the lines of Aerosmith and King’s X look into this piece for they should not be disappointed. I enjoyed this record and felt it was a lot of fun and energetic to listen to. I look forward to catching an entire set sometime soon.
