Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

Coming on the heals of the NWOBHM, Thrash metal was a powerhouse style the late 80s from bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Metal Church, Anthrax and the German bands Destruction and Kreator. It prowled the late 80s underground like a sullen beast while the hair bands partied through the scene above. A second set of bands--Testament, Overkill, Forbidden, Heathen, and Holy Terror--were there for the thrash connoisseur.

Warbringer is a time-transplanted, old-school thrash assault with a dual quality that is rarely achieved--it's both out of control and precise. The big drums and twin guitar attack is rapid, highly-skilled and for 24+ minutes it speeds along at a pace that is just about to go off its hinges into a chasm of wreckage, but they hold it all together with youthful vigor. It retains it's lowbrow feel with garage gang-chants and the venomous spews of lead vocalist, John Kevill, aside the rather loud production. Rather than taking an anti-establishment route, they cover the traditional topics of war, killing and more war, a fairly limited topic range that is acceptable with a short EP. Hopefully, Warbringer will show us more of the talent they have and bring their battle prowess to more fields.

Century Media took notice and recently added the band to it's roster and what a great pick up it was.

Bottom Line: Break out your bullet-belts and fire your guns!
