Largely a continuation of the last CD with no real changesTracks: 1. The Mirror's Truth 2. Eraser 3. Tilt 4. Abnegation
The last time I reviewed an In Flames EP, it was the
Trigger release and I basically trashed it for the over-extensive use of electronica sounds. If it was a precursor to the direction they were going, expanded from the prior CD, I wasn't into it. Thankfully, they lessened the approach on
Soundtrack To Your Escape and discarded it almost altogether on the last full-length
Come Clarity. The new EP
The Mirror's Truth is largely a continuation of the last CD with no real changes in direction. It still has melodic thrash guitars and a booming drum sound, but the "Korny" whine in Anders Fridén's vocals that all the old-schooler had an issue with is back to a harsher delivery. The highly introspective lyrics that they've had for many album (even I feel some contention with them) should help sell t-shirts to the mall kids. None of the songs on here are better than the best ones off of
Come Clarity, but if you were into it, you should have no problem with the four songs here. It's 13+ more minutes of In Flames to get me through to a hotly anticipated
