Band Forgotten Woods Title As The Wolves Gather+ Type LP/EP Company Aeternitas Tenebrarum YOR 2017 Style Black Popular Reviews 3/30/2017 - Review by: Greg Watson Two classic black metal albums in one release that you won't want to miss Forgotten Woods was one of those black metal bands that were criminally underrated during the black metal boom of the 90's. Relegated to obscurity because of their desire to create music instead of headlines, metal heads can now get two of their best albums in one release--As The Wolves Gather + Sjel Av Natten. The sound hasn't been adjusted all that much from the original releases but the albums still pack a hell of a wallop. The music is classic 90's Norwegian black metal with guitars that sound like swarms of angry bees looking to overwhelm you. The vocals remind me a bit of In the Woods and Bethlehem with that higher delivery. Both "As The Wolves Gather" and "Svel Av Natten" easily stood on their own back in the early 90's when they were released. But together, these two albums present a juggernaut of cold, organic black metal that envelops you like a funereal shroud. Any metalhead that says they're a black metal fan cannot miss this release at all. ALL REVIEWS FOR: FORGOTTEN WOODS
