In Flames is a band I've liked from first listen. Their mix of brutality and melody hooked me right in, but I can't say that I really wanted to spend the bones for the "Trigger" EP. When I came across it in the used bin, I snapped it up sure that I was getting a hot deal. It's probably best that I got it there because it added little positive to my perception of the band. From the prior "Reroute to Remain", the song "Trigger" was cut down to a single; for where, I don't know. "Cloud Connected" was redone as a club remix; for what clubs, I don't know. "Watch Them Feed" is a decent thrash-up, but the rest is pretty pointless for me. Next is a remake of the Genesis song "Land of Confusion". Its subject matter of facelessness in a modern world does fit the band philosophy that I've gathered, but the song itself musically does little. "Moonshield" is done without lyrics, Karaoke" style, so you can sing it yourself. It's electronic noise that I don't want to sing to, really.
Hopefully, this CD was realeased isn't an indicator of the directions they want to persue
Bottom Line: For collectors and hardcore completist fans only.
