Omenfilth are a throwback band to early 80's and 90's era black metal infused with just a touch of thrash. The first four tracks are all in this vein and read like a manual for your classic black metal track. It works really well and the band are clearly able to play this style very well. The vocals are particularly wicked with that classic bm shriek and some rasps thrown in for good measure. Everything moves along fine until you hit the final track, 'Black Ritual of Demonic Possession'. The song started out with this really cool, eerie atmospheric sound to it that I was waiting to fade into more bm wonder. I kept waiting and waiting and finally looked down to see that this track was nearly 27 minutes long. So I skipped ahead a few minutes to more atmospheric horror music. It continues this way for the ENTIRE track! This one song is longer than the four other songs that comprise the rest of the release. I really enjoyed the album up to this song and would have scored it damn near perfect but that final track both for the length and the absurdity of it.
