There is no question that Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon is one of the greatest rock albums of all times. After all, it's sold over 45 million albums worldwide and remained on the Billboard charts for 741 weeks. The album is so influential, that every song has been covered multiple times, either in a single setting or as part of a whole album cover. The Easy Start All-Stars did a reggae version of the entire album in 2003, The Flamming Lips did an alternative version of the whole album in 2009, it’s been done a cappella, and there has also been blue grass cover of the whole album by Poor Man’s Whiskey. So when I heard that members of The Sword were going to cover the entire album, I couldn't wait to hear it.

If you’re thinking that they went all-out stoner on every track, think again. They meticulously provide the stoner jams where necessary and remained restrained and subtle on many parts as well. All in all, this album is killer and it ended up surpassing my expectations. The stand out stoner tracks includes "Time" and "Money". They do both of those songs justice both vocally and instrumentally. For the slower tracks, they shine on "Breathe (In The Air)" and "Us and Them". The instrumental tracks, "On The Run" and "Great Gig In The Sky" remain similar to the original tracks, but "Any Color You Like" is an all out jam session. Production wise, the album is very crisp without taking away from the loud stoner parts.

Whether you are a fan of Pink Floyd, The Sword, or just looking for something new and exciting to listen to, Doom Side Of The Moon will certainly peak your interest. This album rocks solid from start to finish and it would be great to see them cover additional albums like Wish You Were Here, Animals, or Ummagumma. This one will remain on my steady rotation and it should be on yours too!
