After a lethargic intro, this band gets it going with some chugging, melodic death metal that is both heavy and catchy. The disc flows together seemlessly and I found something cool to pick out of every single song. Keyboards are always hit and miss for me but the addition of them as a backdrop throughout the album gives it that little something extra in the detail deptartment. The vocals fit the music well with their raspy, almost thrash metal delivery that keeps them angry but not annoying. Abstract Nation is the kind of album you can jam loudly for the aggression or put on with the headphones and sink into your chair with. I don't think there's any way you can "learn" the ability to write music like that and I thoroughly enjoyed this disc from the very fist time I played it.
Bottom Line: My vote for best "unknown" melodic death band of the year.
