Pure American death metal
Throughout the years Tampa Florida band Cannibal Corpse has remained consistent in their lust for pure aural devastation, and their latest release "Evisceration Plague" is no exception. Produced at Mana Studios in St. Petersburg FL by Hate Eternal frontman/lead guitarist Erik Rutan, the album shows that the band has pushed their already considerable musical talents even further. Lead guitarist Pat O'Brien (ex-Nevermore) contributes virtuosic solos to all but two of the albums songs: "Evidence in the Furnace" and "Unnatural"(which features a solo by Rutan himself). Bassist Alex Webster's technical brilliance cannot be overstated as the low end notes fly under guitarist Rob Barrett's crushing rhythms. Paul Mazurkiewicz's drums were taken to new levels of precision as were the Earth-shaking vocals of George Fisher. But despite the high levels of musicianship, this is far from being just a musicians' band, they remain one of the finest and most defining examples of pure American death metal today--ever intense and always true to their fans including the one writing this review.
