Songs are some of the band's best
Regardless of mileage or incline, Waters and Padden continue to push that heavy load. "Feast" is the fourth collaboration between the two in a space of nine years. This partnership is ultimately the brains and brawn of the Annihilator machine and this new album illustrates that. Padden wrote the opener "Deadlock" and contributes on rhythm guitar in the live setting. In recent interviews, Waters stated that he would send pieces of these songs to Padden and the two would interact long distance on re-writes or changes. The end result works tremendously well as these songs are some of the band's best. "Deadlock" is a furious opening statement with those trademark riffs and timing changes. The same could be said for "No Way Out", another charging anthem that has Padden's softer vocals spaced evenly within the quick leads. "Fight The World" is another semi-ballad that shows Padden's sterile singing, something he also does quite well with "One Falls, Two Rise". The production standards are high with riffs and percussion high in the mix and the packaging is top notch. I couldn't be happier with "Feast" and depending on the weather it is my top pick of 2013.
