Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

Ok, so this review is coming a little late but c'mon there has been so much stuff coming out it's hard to get to everything on time. Anyways, this CD kicks total ass. I must admit that I was skeptical about buying this when I looked at the song titles. I thought 'Oh great, here's another DM band that Metal Blade has picked up that wants to be the next Cannibal Corpse'. Man was I dead wrong. This six piece from Arizona has their own sound and it works phenomenally well. The first two tracks might throw you off with their lush acoustic intros but give it a few seconds and it will start to kick your ass. I was amazed at the sound these guys had. It was very crushing yet melodic at the same time and it just sounds great. The vocals are awesome, not your traditional death metal grunts and growls. The drummer plays so fast at times that I'd be afraid my leg would fall off from playing so fast. And the bass brings it all together nicely. Man, that word seems so outta place in metal review. As far as the production goes, it's pretty outstanding, give or take a few minor flaws. And the album itself is a concept album and a very cool one at that. I won't go into detail about the concept..but you can read one of many interviews with the band to find out what it's all about if you can't figure it out for yourself. Any fan of Death Metal or metal in general needs to go out and pick up this album. This is one of my Top 10 picks of 2002. RAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH! --Reviewed by ChaosLord 2.07.03
