Fifth album of atmospheric post black metal from Germany
It's been three years since Germany's Downfall Of Gaia released their exceptional fourth album, 'Atrophy'. The silence has been broken as they are back with 'Ethic Of Radical Finitude', containing six tracks and clocking in at around forty minutes in length. Although they continue to dominate the post black metal market, there isn't much new here that hasn't already been heard on any of their previous releases. However, there are a few spots of female narrations (such as in "Guided Through A Starless Night") that provide a nice touch to the acoustic interludes, but the rest remain the same. That's not to say that this is a bad release though, because the songwriting and structure are done very well. For someone new to the genre, this would be a great album to start with but for veterans, this may take a few listens for maximum enjoyment.
